- Turn off the lights during the day on April 22nd and rely on the sun for your light. Give the planet a rest. This tip compliments of my 5 year-old. (Did I mention I like her preschool?)
- Eat vegetarian for a day. Vegetarian diets use fewer resources from the earth. Be adventurous! Try a vegetarian meal that you've never tried before.
- Take a few minutes to find out where to recycle old batteries, instead of throwing them in the trash.
Any other ideas? How will you celebrate?

We've been turning off the lights at work a lot lately. It isn't about being green, but about finding "innovative" ways to save cash.
I'm going to do #3 - it will be my own personal challenge. I have a box full of old batteries and I would love to get them out of the house. Thanks for the inspiration.
Some ideas: Go on a long walk anywhere with a bag and collect every scrap of garbage you can find...or pick up trash outside your office environment...or your co-worker's cube! Plant a seedling in your yard (think of how many trees we've lost to disease). Make a decision to finally turn the heat off for the year in your house! Wear your clothes another day instead of throwing them immediately into the wash...o.k, this is not for everyone, obvs.
